How to Obtain Cosmog in Pokémon Go

Meet Cosmog: The Cute Legend of Alola

Cosmog first showed up in Gen VII. This cute Legendary Pokémon from the Alola region might not look strong at first glance. But, it evolves into much more powerful forms. After it turns into Cosmoem, it can then evolve into Solgaleo or Lunala.

Even though Cosmog shines in Pokémon Sun and Moon, it also popped up in Pokémon Go. Being a Legendary Pokémon, you’d think it’s super rare, only appearing in special events or that it’s hard to catch.

How to Catch Cosmog and Evolutions in Pokémon Go

So far, Cosmog has only shown up during two Pokémon Go events.

One chance to catch it was from June 16 to 25. Players had to log in to get a free Starry Skies Special Research task. Completing it rewarded them with a Cosmog. Want another Cosmog? That would be $5 for an extra encounter during the Solstice Horizons event.

Its first appearance was in 2022’s Season of Light. Back then, the “A Cosmic Companion” Special Research had Cosmog as a reward. Finish the first page, and you’d get to meet Cosmog, alongside some extra experience and Stardust.

To get Cosmoem, Lunala, and Solgaleo, players had to follow a unique path. These evolutions were tied to certain events and Special Research tasks.

During the Season of Light, you could evolve Cosmog into Cosmoem. This was a task on page five of the Cosmic Companion Special Research. To evolve, you needed 25 Cosmog Candy, which were rewards from the prior page’s tasks.

Next, to get either Lunala or Solgaleo, you needed 100 more Cosmog Candy. This candy came from completing up to page eight of the Special Research. To evolve into Lunala, you used your Candy on Cosmoem at night. For Solgaleo, you did it during the day, while the event was live.

So far, those were the only chances to catch Cosmog and its evolutions. Keep an eye out for more events featuring Cosmog.
