Hidden Gems Promised New Content, Yet Players Wonder Why Pokémon Go Still Feels Stagnant

Fans Unhappy with New Pokémon Go Season

A fresh season kicked off in Pokémon Go on June 1. But, many fans are not happy. They say the new content feels old.

A discussion on Reddit started on June 1. It questions the point of new seasons when Pokémon don’t change much.

This season, called Hidden Gems, changed wild Pokémon spawn rates. This is similar to past seasons.

However, these changes aren’t big. Most Pokémon have stayed the same for over a year. The Silph Road’s report, using feedback from players worldwide, says not many spawn rates changed this season.

“Why refresh every 3 months if many Pokémon remain the same?” asked the Reddit thread’s author.

Pokémon Go has over 1,000 Pokémon. But, players can only find a small number in the wild.

“Hundreds of Pokémon exist, but the spawn pool doesn’t show it,” said the top comment on Reddit. “And why do some generations appear only in special events?”

Rotating spawn pools should give players a fresh experience. But, according to many, it’s not changing enough. So, they keep finding the same Pokémon for months or years.

Backlash Against Niantic Continues

Niantic has faced much criticism lately for lack of new content and controversial changes. This criticism is not slowing down.

In May, changes to Remote Raid Passes sparked controversy. The criticism grew as features unchanged for years remained the same. The introduction of the Master Ball made players worry it might later cost money, despite being free at an event.

June is still a busy month in the game. It starts with the Searching for Gold event on June 3. This will give players Gimmighoul Coins. Then, the Water Festival runs from June 6 to 12, with a Spotlight Hour included.
