Nearly 20 Percent of All Pokémon TCG Cards Reportedly Printed in the Past Year

Pokémon keeps rocking as one of the world’s top media giants. The Pokémon Company’s recent stats show huge wins in both the Trading Card Game (TCG) and video games.

The Pokémon Company (TPC) says its partners have made over 52.9 billion cards so far. From March 2022 to 2023 alone, they made an amazing 9.7 billion cards.

For three years now, the Pokémon TCG has seen more and more cards made each year. A big part of this rise came from launching the TCG in mainland China last October with a Simplified Chinese version.

With these numbers, over 18 percent of all Pokémon TCG products were made last year. Some question these totals, but TPC stands by their facts.

PokéBeach says these numbers seem right compared to year-over-year changes. Yet, before 2017, the company’s tracking wasn’t as sharp. Before 2019, TPC and its buddies made about 1.5 billion cards a year.

But that’s not all from TPC, as Pokémon video games continue to sell like hotcakes.

From March 2022 to 2023, all tracked Pokémon video game titles sold a whopping 40 million copies. This makes the total sales for the video games hit an amazing 480 million units.

Even if TPC’s numbers are slightly off, the growing production shows Pokémon‘s massive global reach since its first video game in 1996.
