Riot to Upgrade Akali’s K/DA Skin for League of Legends Players
The popular K-Pop song and animated music video “POP/STARS” by Riot has captured the attention of the League of Legends community. In response to the craze, Riot is offering a free upgrade to League players who own Akali’s K/DA skin.
The song has not only resonated with current and former League players, but it has also caught the attention of mainstream media outlets like Billboard and Variety. The virtual K-Pop group K/DA, featuring four champions from the game, performs the anthem.
Akali, one of the champions from the group, has become a fan favorite thanks to her rap performance in the video. However, her in-game K/DA skin lacked the neon extravagance that fans loved. Riot is addressing this by introducing a neon effect to Akali’s Twilight Shroud ability in Patch 8.23, starting later this month.
The neon effect on the skin matches Akali’s appearance in the music video, and it will only activate while she is inside her shroud. This update aims to recreate the vibrant visuals that captivated fans in the music video.
Players can expect this change to arrive on the PBE for testing later today.
