Is Relicanth Available in a Shiny Variant in Pokémon Go?

Relicanth, a unique Pokémon from the deep sea, is both a Rock and Water type. This rare creature first appeared in Pokémon GO in late 2017. Up until now, players haven’t seen its Shiny form in the game.

Shiny Relicanth in Pokémon GO?

For a long time, the Shiny version of Relicanth was missing from Pokémon GO. People farming candies for Relicanth kept looking, but no Shiny showed up during various events.

But there’s great news on the horizon. The Pokémon GO Tour: Hoenn event on Feb. 18 will boost many Pokémon’s spawn rates. It will introduce Shiny Relicanth for the first time in Pokémon GO.

How Does Shiny Relicanth Look?

Shiny Relicanth stands out. Unlike others with minor changes, it’s easy to spot. Its normal brown and grey tones turn into more of a fish look.

Its shell shifts from brown to bright blue, and the grey becomes a light beige. You’ll notice Shiny Relicanth’s new colors before the stars that signal a Shiny Pokémon in the game.

Getting Shiny Relicanth Easily

Your best chance to catch a Shiny Relicanth is during the Pokémon GO Tour: Hoenn. This event runs on Feb. 18 and 19. Tickets cost $30, offering many new activities.

The event will bump up Shiny Relicanth’s spawn rate. This is your moment to get one, as it will be harder after the event.

Shiny Pokémon are rare, with just a 0.2% chance – or one in 500 – of appearing in the wild. If you’re gearing up for the event, start preparing now.
