Sold Out: Tickets for The International 2019

The International 2019 Tickets Sell Out in Record Time

Tickets for The International 2019, the biggest Dota 2 tournament of the year, sold out within seconds of going on sale. Despite a delay in the sales, all 26,804 tickets were purchased, with the Chinese tickets selling out almost instantly. Valve, the game’s developer, made a total of 26,804 tickets available for the Chinese market.

Quick Sellout for Weekend Bundles

The weekend bundles, which included the grand finals, sold out in just 27 seconds, thanks in part to early access codes given to players who were subscribed to Dota Plus or had purchased the TI9 Battle Pass before ticket sales were announced. This left many fans without the chance to purchase tickets during the open period.

Concerns over Scalping and Bots

Following the cancellation of the open purchasing period, fans expressed concerns over scalping and the availability of tickets on resale sites. Despite the early access barrier, tickets have already been resold at significantly higher prices. There are also concerns that bots may have been able to purchase tickets during the sales.

Valve Investigates Damai

Valve is looking into rumors of Damai, the official ticket sales page, using a separate link to allow bots and scalpers to bypass the early access code. While an investigation may be held, it will not impact the already purchased tickets.

The International 2019 will take place from August 20 to 25 at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai, China. The tournament will feature 18 of the world’s best Dota 2 teams competing for the Aegis of Champions.
