G2 and UoL vie for the top spot in EU LCS

Nine weeks of intense EU LCS action is coming to an end with one final showdown. G2 Esports, the reigning champions, will face off against fan-favorites Unicorns of Love in Hamburg on March 23. Both teams have the same goal in mind – securing a spot in the Mid Season Invitational in Brazil on April 28.

G2’s impressive victory over Fnatic in the semifinals of the EU LCS Spring Split Regional Qualifiers, along with Unicorns of Love’s deserved win over Misfits, has led them to this final matchup.

The question on everyone’s mind is whether Unicorns of Love can pull off an upset or if G2 will continue their dominance and secure their third win in three finals. The outcome will depend on which team can communicate better on the day, with G2 having the upper hand in this aspect.

Fnatic came close to defeating G2 in the second game of the semifinals, but fell short, allowing G2 to make a comeback. If Unicorns of Love want to win, they need to take control from the beginning and force G2 to react to their plays. Giving G2 control over the game and the drafting phase will only lead to defeat.

For Unicorns of Love to stand a chance, they need to target G2’s weakest players, Dae-han “Expect” Ki and Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen, who have not been performing at their best recently. If they can gain an advantage in these lanes without resorting to risky tactics, such as lane swaps, they have a chance of securing a victory.

As for G2, they simply need to show up on the day and learn from their mistakes against Fnatic. They cannot afford to have any communication issues, as they did in their first game against Fnatic. They need to play at their best, like a team that finished the spring split with a record of 13-1.

The key matchup to watch will be between Luka “PerkZ” Perkovic of G2 and Fabian “Exileh” Schubert of Unicorns. Both players have volatile early games and can be punished for overextending in their lanes. Unicorns rely heavily on Exileh, so if he falls behind, their chances of winning will diminish.

To secure the victory, G2 needs to remain composed and limit Unicorns of Love’s options. They have already defeated them twice this season, so they know what it takes to come out on top.

Unicorns of Love may be a team of rookies, but they have the potential to be great. They have been molded into professionals through hard work and dedication. There may not be any big names on their roster, but they have the opportunity to make a statement by defeating G2 in Hamburg.

The key to success for Unicorns of Love is to control the vision on the map and prevent Kim “Trick” Gang-Yun from dominating the jungle. If they can achieve this, they have a chance to win the title.
