Prepare to Vanquish Your Foes in League of Legends’ Newest Game Mode: Dark Star: Singularity

Dark Star: Singularity – League of Legends’ Newest Game Mode

Riot recently released Dark Star: Singularity, the newest game mode for League of Legends. The game mode was teased a couple of days ago along with upcoming Dark Star skins for Kha’zix and Orianna. Now, we have the details on how this crazy new game mode actually works.

New Map and Winning Conditions

The game mode takes place on a new map called the “Cosmic Ruins.” The winning team is determined by a best-of-three match, and each round ends when one team reaches 100 points. In this game mode, all players control Dark Star Thresh and earn points by hooking and flaying enemies into the giant Dark Star located at the center of the map.

Zero-Gravity Slaughter

In regular Thresh hooks and flays, it may seem difficult to quickly toss enemies into the star. However, in Dark Star: Singularity, the distance you drag enemies with the hook and toss them with the flay is significantly increased to create a zero-gravity experience of chaos and combat.

Enhanced Abilities

Riot has made additional changes to Thresh’s abilities specifically for this game mode. When Thresh throws his hook through the star, it will catch fire and deal extra damage to anything it grabs onto. His W ability, Dark Passage, will automatically pull nearby allies back to Thresh without them needing to click on it. Players can use this to save a teammate or even turn friends into meatshields for oncoming hooks.

Gameplay Mechanics

In Dark Star: Singularity, Thresh’s E ability, Flay, grants bonus on-hit damage that charges faster and hits harder. Thresh’s ultimate ability is disabled in this game mode, as the focus is on hooks and flays. Additionally, when using Flay or the hook, the lower the target’s health, the farther they are thrown. It is even possible to toss a Thresh all the way across the map if the target’s health is low enough, resulting in hilarious moments.

Conclusion

Despite the unclear connection to Dark Star Thresh’s overarching story of consuming the universe, Dark Star: Singularity looks like a fun game mode. It is currently available on the PBE and is expected to be shipped with the next patch.
