TSM and Coach Weldon Green Part Ways
After a highly successful year, TSM has announced that they will be parting ways with coach Weldon Green.
Green is well-known in the League of Legends community for his work with multiple competitive teams as a performance consultant and coach. He is widely regarded as one of the most capable coaches in the scene.
Departure Following Unsuccessful Championship Run
Green’s departure comes about a month after TSM’s disappointing performance at the 2016 League World Championship, where the team failed to advance past the group stage.
In a statement, TSM acknowledged that they have achieved a lot with Green on board but ultimately decided that his expertise is better suited for shorter periods of time. However, they will still seek his services for event preparation.
TSM’s Success with Green
TSM initially brought Green on as a performance consultant during the 2016 spring split and later promoted him to the position of head coach for the summer split. The team had a nearly flawless regular season, only suffering a surprise loss to Phoenix1 in the eighth week. They finished the regular season with a record of 17-1 and convincingly won both of their playoff series to claim the North American LCS championship.
Despite the departure, TSM’s collaboration with Green has clearly played a significant role in their success and they are grateful for his contributions.
