Piplup is Pokemon Go’s Jan 2020 Community Day Pokemon
Pokemon Go has announced that Piplup will be the featured Pokemon for its upcoming January 2020 Community Day event.
Community Day is a monthly event in Pokemon Go that offers players the chance to catch a specific Pokemon with unique abilities, as well as bonuses and exclusive moves.
On January 19, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the player’s local time zone, Piplup will appear more frequently in the wild. Trainers will have a higher chance of encountering a shiny Piplup during this time.
Evolve Piplup into Prinplup during or up to two hours after the event to receive a Prinplup that knows Aqua Jet, a special move exclusive to Community Day. Additionally, Lure Modules will last for three hours during the event, instead of the usual 30 minutes.
Piplup is a Water-type Pokemon from the Sinnoh region. It evolves into Prinplup, and then into Empoleon. Empoleon is a dual-type Water/Steel Pokemon and is considered one of the strongest Water-types in the game.
To make the most of the event, trainers are advised to stock up on Poke Balls and Lure Modules in advance. They can also team up with other trainers to take down raid bosses and participate in other Pokemon Go activities.
