Chinese underdogs Tyloo eliminate MLG Columbus champions Luminosity in Malmo

Tyloo creates history by eliminating Luminosity Gaming at DreamHack Malmo

In a major upset at Counter-Strike, Chinese team Tyloo has knocked out reigning Major champions Luminosity Gaming at DreamHack Malmo.

Despite being the bottom seed, Tyloo managed to defeat Luminosity 2-1 in a best of three elimination match in Group A. This victory followed their victory over Team Liquid in the previous round.

While many criticized Liquid’s performance in the previous round, attributing it to the unpredictable best-of-one format, Tyloo proved their worth by putting up a heroic performance against Luminosity.

Initially, Luminosity seemed to be on track for a 2-0 victory as they reached 14-9 on the first map, Cache. However, Tyloo made an impressive comeback, winning seven rounds in a row and securing a 16-14 victory. Luminosity then found some stability with a 16-7 win on Overpass.

In the final game, on Inferno, Tyloo took an early lead just as they did against Liquid. They secured the first four rounds and ended the half 9-6, giving them a strong position for the upset victory. Although Luminosity managed to take the lead, Tyloo made a remarkable comeback by winning seven out of the final eight rounds and dominating Luminosity’s economy, ultimately securing an unforgettable result.

Luminosity, who were playing their first event since winning the $1 million dollar Major in Columbus, find themselves eliminated from Group A along with Liquid. Tyloo and Mousesports will move forward in the tournament.
