Possibly the Most Embarrassing Moment in Competitive Counter-Strike History

Popular Counter-Strike Streamer “summit1g” Makes Costly Mistake

Today, popular Counter-Strike streamer Jaryd “summit1g” Lazar made a crucial error during his debut tournament with Splyce. This mistake ended up costing his team a match point.

After losing to Luminosity Gaming, the reigning CS:GO major champions, Splyce had a chance to win the first map against CLG in their second Group A match at DreamHack Austin.

With some well-placed trades, summit1g found himself in a one-on-one situation against Jacob “Fugly” Medina. He was one bomb defuse away from securing match point for Splyce at 11-15.

Summit1g managed to win the duel with only 40hp remaining. However, in the excitement, he walked through his own Molotov on the planted bomb while defusing, resulting in his immediate death.

This mistake gave CLG the win and allowed them to come back into the game. They ultimately won 19-15 in overtime. CLG also went on to win the second map, leaving Splyce at the bottom of the group and eliminated from the tournament.

Understandably, summit1g was devastated by his mistake. During the break between maps, he tweeted: “If we lose this bo3 I’m never playing competitive CS again.”

Summit1g was brought in as a last-minute replacement for Andrew “Professor_Chaos” Heintz on the North American side. He joined former Area 51 teammate Arya “Arya” Hekmet.
