Epic unveils Fortnite’s Blackheart Cup prize pool distribution and additional details

Epic Games Reveals Details of Blackheart Cup Tournament

Epic Games has released the full details of the upcoming online tournament, Blackheart Cup. The company has made some changes to the prize pool distribution and eligibility rules for this event.

Changes in Prize Pool Distribution:

In comparison to the previous Scallywag Cup, Epic Games has decided to allocate more prize money to players in North America and Europe. To achieve this, they have reduced the prize pool for minor regions such as Brazil, Oceania, and Asia. In the Scallywag Cup, players from minor regions who finished up to 25th place received prize money. However, in the Blackheart Cup, only players who finish up to the 20th place will receive prize money. The changes are as follows:

  • North America West: Prize money will be given up to the 30th place instead of the 25th place.
  • North America East: Prize money will be given up to the 90th place instead of the 25th place.
  • Europe: Prize money will be given up to the 120th place instead of the 25th place.

Prize Pool Comparison:

By comparing the total prize pools of major and minor regions from the Scallywag Cup and Blackheart Cup, it is evident that Epic Games has reduced the total prize pool for minor regions by 31 percent while increasing the prize pool for major regions by almost 13 percent. Oceania has been affected the most, with a reduction of 48 percent in prize pool compared to the Scallywag Cup, while North America East has gained the most with a 22 percent increase.

Eligibility Criteria:

The eligibility criteria for participating in the Blackheart Cup remain the same as the previous tournament, Scallywag. Players must have two-factor authentication enabled on their Fortnite accounts and be 13 years of age or older. Additionally, their Fortnite accounts must have a level of 15 or higher.

Important Dates:

The Blackheart Cup is set to begin on March 23. The top three percent players worldwide from the Gauntlet Test Events, running until the day of the event, will be eligible to participate. On March 24, the top 3,000 players in each region will compete in the grand finals.
