Epic Games investigates bug affecting Fortnite’s pickaxe damage

Fortnite Players Experience Pickaxe Bug with Season 8 Update

Fortnite: Battle Royale players are facing a frustrating issue with their pickaxes after the recent v8.00 update. The update introduced season eight but also brought along a bug that reduces the damage dealt by pickaxes to structures. Some players even reported their pickaxe damage being set to zero. Epic Games, the developer of Fortnite, has acknowledged the issue in a Reddit post and is currently investigating it.

Several players have voiced their concerns on the same Reddit post, stating that they are having difficulties performing basic actions in Fortnite. One player mentioned that they are unable to farm anything, and it appears to be happening to everyone on their server. Another player noted that the issue seems to affect only certain players in each match. They shared their experience of using the Hand Cannon to destroy walls since their pickaxe was ineffectual in doing so.

While Epic works on resolving the issue, players have found a temporary solution. They advise saving materials and prioritizing eliminations. Since the v7.40 update in February, eliminated opponents drop stacks of 50 of each material, which provides enough resources for protection and efficient movement on the map. Eliminating a couple of opponents will guarantee enough materials for surviving longer in fights.

In addition to the pickaxe bug, players have reported other unusual glitches. Some players have observed that metal floors behave like lava, causing damage to players. There have also been instances of cannonballs failing to explode upon impact. Epic has yet to comment on these issues, although they have acknowledged them previously.

In similar cases, Epic typically releases a hotfix on the same day to address the problem without downtime. Players can expect the pickaxe bug to be resolved soon.
