Thorin’s CS:GO Global Top 10 Standings – July 16th, 2015

CS:GO World Rankings for July 16, 2015

CS:GO has struggled to maintain consistent and up-to-date World Rankings due to the complexity of determining the value of different event results. Instead of using a point system, I have analyzed the recent form of each team and used my own intuition to determine the global top 10 rankings.

I only consider offline results and take into account a team’s performance over the course of three months. Results from the beginning of the period are given slightly less weight compared to more recent tournament results. I also consider finishes, consistency, current form, and opponents faced when ranking the teams.

Since the last edition of the rankings, ESWC featured more international play and some surprising wins.

Rankings

1. FNATIC (KRiMZ, JW, olofm, Flusha and pronax) [-]

Recent form:
ESEA S18 LAN Finals (2nd)
PGL CCS (2nd)
FACEIT Stage 1 (3rd-4th)
Dreamhack Tours (1st)
Gfinity Spring Masters II (1st)
Fragbite Masters Season 4 (2nd)
Dreamhack Summer (1st)
ESL ESEA ProLeague S1 (1st)

FNATIC has not competed since the previous ranking update.

2. Team SoloMid (device, dupreeh, cajunb, Xyp9x and karrigan) [-]

Recent form:
PGL CCS (1st)
FACEIT Stage 1 (1st)
Fragbite Masters Season 4 (1st)
ESL ESEA ProLeague S1 (7th-8th)

Team SoloMid has not competed since the previous ranking update.

3. Na`Vi (GuardiaN, Edward, Seized, flamie and Zeus) [-]

Recent form:
FACEIT Stage 1 (5th-6th)
Gfinity Spring Masters II (3rd-4th)
Fragbite Masters Season 4 (3rd)
Dreamhack Summer (2nd)
StarSeries XIII (1st)
ESWC (1st)

Na`Vi performed exceptionally well at ESWC, winning the tournament as the highest-ranked team in attendance. Their opponents in the playoffs, Renegades and FlipSid3, were not as strong as expected, but Na`Vi secured a solid victory over Cloud9 in a full three-map final. Their consistent form and recent achievements make them a legitimate threat to FNATIC and TSM.

As TSM’s previous event victories become less relevant, Na`Vi has the opportunity to climb to a top two ranking. While their recent wins may not have come from the most competitive fields, their consistent performance with five straight top four finishes, three straight finals appearances, and two straight titles cannot be ignored. Na`Vi is challenging the dominance of FNATIC and EnVyUs in the CS:GO scene.

4. EnVyUs (shox, Happy, kioShiMa, SmithZz and NBK) [-]

Recent form:
PGL CCS (4th)
Dreamhack Tours (2nd)
Gfinity Spring Masters II (5th-10th)
StarSeries XIII (2nd)
Gfinity Summer Masters I (1st)
ESL ESEA ProLeague S1 (5th-6th)
ESWC (3rd-4th)

EnVyUs managed to secure a top four finish at the most recent event, maintaining their reputation for consistently strong performances. However, their loss to Cloud9 in this tournament leaves them with little else to boast about. EnVyUs needs to improve their performance against top teams if they want to regain their place among the top contenders.

5. Virtus.pro (Snax, byali, pasha, NEO and TaZ) [-]

Recent form:
ESEA S18 LAN Finals (1st)
FACEIT Stage 1 (3rd-4th)
Gfinity Spring Masters II (2nd)
Gfinity Summer Masters I (5th-6th)
ESL ESEA ProLeague S1 (3rd-4th)

Virtus.pro has not competed since the previous ranking update.

6. Ninjas in Pyjamas (GeT_RiGhT, f0rest, friberg, Xizt and allu) [-]

Recent form:
PGL CCS (3rd)
FACEIT Stage 1 (2nd)
Gfinity Spring Masters II (5th-10th)
Dreamhack Summer (3rd-4th)
Gfinity Summer Masters I (2nd)
ESWC (5th-8th)

Ninjas in Pyjamas suffered a shocking upset at ESWC, losing to FlipSid3 in a series where they had won the first map convincingly. This loss, combined with their recent failures to reach the final four in two out of their last four events, puts NiP at risk of falling out of the top six. They have a long way to go before reclaiming a top four ranking.

NiP remains in the top six due to their consistent top four finishes, but Cloud9 is closing in with two consecutive strong offline performances. NiP needs to deliver better results if they want to maintain their ranking.

7. Cloud9 (Skadoodle, Shroud, n0thing, fREAKAZOiD and sgares) [+2]

Recent form:
ESEA S18 LAN Finals (7th-8th)
Gfinity Spring Masters II (7th-8th)
Gfinity Summer Masters I (7th-8th)
ESL ESEA ProLeague S1 (2nd)
ESWC (2nd)

Cloud9’s performance in the ESL ESEA Pro League allowed them to defeat EnVyUs in a best-of-three and reach the final of an international tournament. They also put up a strong fight against Na`Vi in the final. With two consecutive top two finishes, Cloud9 has climbed two spots in the rankings and reached their highest position ever. It is a significant achievement for a North American team.

To surpass Ninjas in Pyjamas in the rankings, Cloud9 needs to maintain their current form and continue performing well in tournaments. However, NiP has additional good results beyond their two recent finals finishes. Cloud9 still has a long way to go, but they have come a long way from their previous struggles to crack the top 10.

8. Titan (kennyS, apEX, Ex6TenZ, Maniac and RpK) [-1]

Recent form:
ESEA S18 LAN Finals (3rd)
Dreamhack Tours (5th-8th)
Gfinity Spring Masters II (3rd-4th)
Dreamhack Summer (3rd-4th)
Gfinity Summer Masters I (5th-6th)
ESWC (13th-16th)

Titan’s performance at ESWC was disappointing, losing to SK Gaming, a team they had previously defeated at Gfinity. This is the first time since the major that Titan has exited a tournament outside of the top eight. Despite their past successes, Titan’s ranking is in jeopardy, especially considering they have lost two of their most skilled players. If they cannot secure the services of shox, their future prospects do not look promising.

9. Team Dignitas (Pimp, Nico, aizy, Kjaerbye and MSL) [-1]

Recent form:
Dreamhack Tours (3rd-4th)
Dreamhack Summer (5th-8th)
Gfinity Summer Masters I (3rd-4th)

Team Dignitas has not competed since the previous ranking update.

10. FlipSid3 (s1mple, WorldEdit, markeloff, bondik and B1ad3) [NEW]

Recent form:
CIS Championship Voronezh (1st)
Dreamhack Tours (5th-8th)
Dreamhack Summer (5th-8th)
StarSeries XIII (3rd-4th)
ESWC (3rd-4th)

FlipSid3 has been in and out of the rankings over the past three months but returned with a strong performance, defeating Ninjas in Pyjamas in a best-of-three series. Their resulting top four finish highlights their potential.

FACEIT Phase 2 Finals will be played at Dreamhack Valencia today, offering teams another opportunity to improve their standings.
