Fortnite: Battle Royale to Introduce New Thermal Scoped Assault Rifle
An exciting addition is coming to Fortnite: Battle Royale – the Thermal Scoped Assault Rifle. The in-game news update revealed that this new weapon will make it easier for players to find enemies.
While not much else is known about the weapon at this time, it’s safe to assume that a thermal gun will give players an advantage by enhancing their ability to spot opponents easily.
Fortnite already has scoped assault rifles, so it’s easy to imagine the scope of this new thermal weapon. When aiming down sights, players should stand out in a color that contrasts the background, helping them to stand out against the surroundings.

Although the exact power and fire rate of the Thermal Scoped Assault Rifle are unknown, it is expected to be similar to the regular scoped assault rifles in terms of damage and speed.
Fortunately, smoke grenades were removed from Fortnite in March, meaning that players won’t have to deal with the added challenge of smokes obscuring their vision while their opponents use the thermal gun to spot them easily.
Other games, like Call of Duty, have implemented thermal weapons in the past, and they have had ways to counter this type of scope. It’ll be interesting to see if Fortnite introduces a countermeasure for this weapon in the future.
Epic often teases new items in the news tab before adding them to the game. Therefore, we can expect the Thermal Scoped Assault Rifle to arrive in Fortnite very soon, possibly even this week.
