Activision’s Removal of TimTheTatman’s Creator Bundle from Warzone and MW2 as the NICKMERCS Saga Escalates

Activision Removes TimTheTatman’s Creator Bundle Following NICKMERCS Controversy

Activision has responded to TimTheTatman’s request to have his creator bundle removed from Warzone and Modern Warfare II in support of NICKMERCS. NICKMERCS’ creator bundle was previously removed after he made a comment comparing queer people to child molesters, which sparked controversy.

“At Tim’s request, we have removed the TimTheTatman operator bundle from the Modern Warfare II and the Warzone store,” stated Activision, according to a tweet by CharlieIntel. TimTheTatman expressed that it felt wrong for him to have his operator in the games while NICKMERCS’ had been removed, leading him to request the removal of his own bundle on June 10.

NICKMERCS Sparks Controversy with Comment

The controversy began on June 7 when NICKMERCS tweeted, “They should leave little children alone,” in response to a Twitter video allegedly showing anti-LGBTQ+ protestors attacking pro-LGBTQ+ demonstrators.

NICKMERCS’ tweet appears to echo a harmful right-wing rhetoric that falsely suggests queer people, especially trans individuals, are child molesters. This statement is dehumanizing and dangerous, especially considering the increasing attacks on the rights of queer individuals.

Backlash and Repercussions

NICKMERCS is a member of FaZe Clan and a professional Apex Legends player. Apex has a diverse player base, including queer operators and fans. NICKMERCS’ tweet garnered strong backlash within that community. However, Activision’s decision to remove his creator bundle from Call of Duty games has led to other streamers, such as Dr. Disrespect, boycotting the game by uninstalling it. Additionally, TimTheTatman has requested the removal of his content.

The future remains uncertain for the streamers involved and Activision.
