Markiplier to Direct Film Adaptation of Terrifying Horror Game from Last Year

Markiplier to Direct, Write, and Star in Movie Adaptation of Short Horror Game ‘Iron Lung’

Popular content creator Markiplier has surprised fans with the announcement that he will be directing, writing, and starring in a feature film based on the short horror game ‘Iron Lung’. This will be Markiplier’s first venture into feature films, and it’s particularly special because he played the game on his YouTube channel less than a year ago, helping to popularize it.

Markiplier already has some filmmaking experience through his creative content on YouTube. He has been the creative mind behind interactive YouTube movies like ‘In Space with Markiplier’ and ‘The Heist with Markiplier’. However, this upcoming project will be his first feature film, where he will co-star with actress Caroline Rose Kaplan.

‘Iron Lung’ originally started as a short horror game that could be completed in one sitting, making it ideal for YouTubers and other content creators to play and react to. The game’s premise is simple: a convict is sent in a small submarine called the Iron Lung to explore an ocean of blood on an unexplored planet. But what makes the game truly terrifying is that players only have a camera to see their surroundings, taking pictures as they navigate the dark depths of the blood ocean. Armed with just a map and coordinated ship controls, players must capture images of every marked space on the map.

As the game gained popularity, developer David Szymanski added more content, including an in-submarine computer that players can access to learn more about the game’s world. Video essays from popular content creators further added to the lore, uncovering the secrets of a game that started with just a submarine and a camera.

Now, Markiplier aims to capture the claustrophobia and thalassophobia (fear of the ocean) that the original game provides and translate it into a movie. Although no release date has been announced yet, fans have the teaser trailer to keep them excited for what’s to come.
