Twitch Takes Action: Adin Ross Banned Following Announcement of Kick Move

Twitch Bans Adin Ross Once Again

Today, Twitch has once again banned Adin Ross, the popular streamer. The reason for the ban remains unclear, but the timing is notable.

In a YouTube video titled “The Decision,” Ross announced that he is leaving Twitch for Kick, a platform that has been critical of Twitch and its moderation policies. This move has been supported by Trainwreck and others who have spoken out against Twitch for a while.

Since Ross has already committed to switching platforms, the Twitch ban may not affect him much at this point. He is likely satisfied with his decision to switch and won’t have to immediately deal with the consequences of his eighth ban on Twitch.

The ban might become important if something happens to Kick. There are already concerns about the platform’s support and content moderation. Ross himself has raised questions about the legality of streaming the Super Bowl and pornography on Kick, which has caused controversy among viewers.

If Ross or Kick encounter legal issues due to the content streamed on the platform, it is uncertain whether Twitch will welcome him back after the new ban. Other high-profile streamers who left Twitch for competitors have not received bans like Ross. Ludwig’s channel is still accessible with old VODs and clips, and streamers like Shroud and Ninja were allowed to return to Twitch after leaving for Mixer.

Ross’ ban is reminiscent of Dr DisRespect, as it has been a while since Ross last streamed on Twitch and the reason for the ban is unclear. If that is the case, Ross may run out of platform options for his stream if Kick faces problems.

Update: February 26, 5:18pm CT: According to a Twitch spokesperson, Ross has streamed on Twitch as recently as Friday, February 24. The previous article incorrectly stated that he had not streamed on Twitch in a while. Twitch also clarified that unmoderated hateful conduct in the chat, such as racist and anti-Semitic messages, is not allowed on Twitch according to their Community Guidelines.
