Escape From Tarkov Developer Receives Twitch Ban, Leaving Gamers Curious

The Developer of Escape From Tarkov Gets Banned from Twitch

The studio behind Escape From Tarkov, Battlestate Games, received a ban from Twitch on Jan. 1. This unfortunate incident coincided with a Twitch drops promotion happening in the game, making it a less than ideal way to start the new year.

Reasons for the Ban Remain Unknown

When visiting Battlestate Games’ Twitch channel, users will find that the account has been suspended for violating Twitch’s Community Guidelines or Terms of Service. However, the specific reason for the ban has not been publicly disclosed.

Speculation among fans suggests that the ban may have resulted from a stream where developers were seen aiming toy guns at each other. Twitch’s guidelines prohibit streamers from displaying “lethal or harmful weapons,” although the platform’s enforcement of these rules has been inconsistent in the past.

Others believe that the ban could be related to a developer appearing intoxicated during a stream or potentially making offensive comments to a viewer in Russian. However, these claims cannot be verified since all VODs of the stream in question have been removed as part of the ban.

A History of Suspensions

This is not the first time that Battlestate Games has faced suspension on Twitch. In 2019, the account was temporarily banned when a developer pretended to shoot themselves with an unloaded pistol. Due to this prior incident, it remains uncertain how long the current suspension will last.

Twitch Drops Event Continues

Despite the ban, fans of Escape From Tarkov can still participate in the Twitch drops event by watching affiliated streamers. The event will proceed as planned despite the unexpected setback.

Battlestate Games has not released any public statements regarding the Twitch suspension. The developer’s latest tweet continues to encourage gamers to join in on the Twitch event.
