Is Twitch banning gambling content?

Gambling Content Restricted on Twitch Starting October 18

Gambling content on Twitch has been a hot topic this year, with popular creators earning money through sponsored deals to stream slots. However, Twitch recently announced a policy update that will prohibit the streaming of unlicensed gambling sites on its platform.

This policy change, set to take effect on October 18, aims to prevent the streaming of slots, roulette, and dice games that are not licensed in the U.S. or other jurisdictions that provide consumer protection. The announcement made on social media by Twitch stated this change in policy.

As a result, gambling sponsors like Stake, Rollbit, Duelbits, and Roobet will no longer be allowed to be streamed on Twitch.

It’s important to note that while this policy restricts certain gambling content, streamers are still permitted to broadcast sports betting, fantasy sports, and poker.

Is Gambling Content Banned on Twitch?

Yes, gambling content that was previously broadcast through unlicensed entities is now banned on Twitch.

Popular creators like Trainwreck, xQc, and Adin Ross, who were known for participating in sponsored gambling streams, can no longer engage in this content on the platform. Stake, one of the most active gambling sponsors for top streamers, is no longer allowed to be streamed.

Twitch’s Community Guidelines specifically mention that Stake, Rollbit, Duelbits, and Roobet are banned, including their free social versions. The platform also stated that additional domains may be added to the banned list in the future.

According to Twitch, the decision to allow a gambling site depends on several factors, including the presence of safety measures such as deposit limits, waiting periods, and age verification systems. Twitch also considers whether streamers use or promote VPNs to bypass geoblocking and if the site is licensed in jurisdictions that offer sufficient consumer protections.

The policy explicitly states that websites focused on fantasy sports, sports betting, and poker are still acceptable content on Twitch.
