How to Activate Server Subscriptions on Discord

Discord Introduces Server Subscriptions for Content Creators

Discord has made it possible for content creators to monetize their communities through server subscriptions. Unlike other platforms, the entry barrier is low, allowing more individuals to take advantage of this opportunity.

Even though only server owners in the U.S. can currently make money through this feature, all they need is a good track record on the platform and acceptance of the monetization terms to get started.

As long as you have followed Discord’s Terms of Service and Community Guidelines, you will be eligible to agree to the platform’s Monetization Terms and Server Subscriptions Policy. There is flexibility in setting the pricing tiers, ranging from $2.99 to $199.99 per month. Creators receive a 90-10 revenue split from server subscriptions.

To begin, go to your Discord server’s settings and navigate to the “Monetization” section. Click on the “Server Subscription” button.

If you haven’t already turned your server into a “Community,” you will need to follow a few simple steps to accomplish that. Once you have set it up, return to the Server Subscription tab and click the “Start Earning” button.

Ensure you have two-factor authentication requirements in place and meet other necessary criteria. Then, agree to the terms and click the “Start Earning” button. You will then receive instructions on creating a “team” to operate the server, even if your team consists of just one person.

Once you’re ready, you can customize your server’s subscription perks, titles, descriptions, and pricing under the Server Subscription tab.

By implementing this new feature, Discord is empowering content creators to generate revenue from their communities and further support their efforts.
