Rubius’s Twitch account suspended for early playthrough of Sonic Frontiers

Rubius, Popular Twitch Streamer, Loses Partnership and Gets Banned for Streaming Sonic Frontiers Early

Spanish Twitch streamer Rubius has been banned from Twitch and stripped of his partnership after allegedly breaking an embargo with Sega. Rubius, who has over 13 million followers on Twitch, shocked fans when he went live and subsequently faced the ban on November 7.

Incident and Fallout

Prior to the ban, Rubius tweeted a crude drawing of Sonic the Hedgehog with the caption “gotta go fast” and intended to stream Sonic Frontiers, which was set to release the following day. However, his stream was quickly taken down after gaining over 30,000 viewers.

Rubius took to Twitter to claim that Sega had given him permission to stream the game after providing him with a code. He shared a screenshot of Sega’s email, which seemed to support his claim. Confused and frustrated, he expressed his shock over Sega banning him from Twitch despite their earlier assurance.

Fan Support and Potential Restoration

Fans of Rubius were quick to rally around the popular Twitch streamer, expressing their outrage that he not only lost his platform access but also his partnership status, possibly temporarily. Currently, Rubius’ Twitch channel is still unavailable, displaying a message stating that the content has been removed at the request of the copyright holder.

However, there is hope that Rubius’ channel could be reinstated. Sonic the Hedgehog’s social media manager, KatieChrz, responded to Rubius’ tweet and expressed her intention to investigate the miscommunication between Rubius and Sega.
