Amouranth stands out as the sole female in the top 100 streamers on Twitch and YouTube

Twitch Star Amouranth Ranks as Top Female Streamer in Q2 2022

Kaitlyn “Amouranth” Siragusa, a popular Twitch personality, was the only female streamer to make it into the top 100 list of most-watched streamers in the second quarter of 2022, including platforms like Twitch and YouTube.

A recent report by Stream Hatchet revealed that Amouranth secured the 56th spot on the list.

Impressive Viewership for Amouranth

Between April and June, fans spent a total of 8.2 million hours tuning into Amouranth’s stream.

Although her numbers are significantly lower compared to the top three streamers—Felix “xQc” Lengyel, Alexandre “Gaules” Borba, and Zack “Asmongold” Hoyt—who garnered 70.6 million, 57.7 million, and 40.1 million hours watched, respectively, Amouranth remains the only female streamer to have made the cut.

An Industry Lacking Female Representation

Notably absent from the top 100 list were renowned female streamers such as Imane “Pokimane” Anys, Rachell “Valkyrae” Hofstetter, and VTuber Ironmouse.

This exposes the one-sided nature of the streaming industry, with Twitch reporting that in 2017, 81.5 percent of users were male, while only 18.5 percent were female. Although the gap has narrowed over the years, with figures in 2019 and 2021 reaching 65 percent and 35 percent, and around 67 percent and 33 percent, respectively, the lack of female representation is evident.

Promising Future for Female Streamers

The growth in the number of leading female streamers has paved the way for others to follow. With the current popularity of VTubers, predominantly female, it is expected that more women will make it into the top 100 list in future quarterly reports.

It will be intriguing to see how this trend impacts the future data and viewership statistics.
