Tectone responds to stereotypes about ‘gym bro mentality’ at OTK’s Camp Knut

OTK’s Fitness Boot Camp with Knut Aims to Break Gym Stereotypes

After three days of OTK’s fitness boot camp with Norwegian bodybuilder and streamer Knut, Tectone, one of the participants, reflected on his gym experiences and challenged the stereotypical depictions of “gym bros.”

OTK’s latest collaborative venture, Camp Knut, has brought together some of Twitch’s most-viewed content creators to explore the world of fitness. For many of them, it’s their first time committing to a consistent workout routine and diet. While it might seem intimidating, Knut hopes that this event will inspire other gamers to feel more comfortable at the gym.

Tectone shared his experiences at Camp Knut so far and aimed to debunk negative assumptions about gym culture and the “gym bro” persona that might have discouraged many from stepping foot in a gym.

“Many people think there’s this gym bro mentality, where everyone will criticize you — they won’t,” Tectone said. “They just won’t. And if someone does, remember that it’s just one person.”

To emphasize the dangers of generalizations, Tectone referred to Andrew Tate and GreekGodx, his fellow OTK partnered streamers, who shared personal anecdotes to highlight the negative impact of broad generalizations against women. Drawing a parallel to the stereotypical “gym bros,” Tectone stated, “Generalizations are incredibly toxic, and you should never do it.”

Although Camp Knut is only in its third day, the positive effects of the workout boot camp are already evident, with Mizkif, another participant, even claiming it to be “the best thing that’s ever happened” to him. Not only benefiting the streamers directly, Tectone and other participants also aim to dispel harmful rumors about fitness in general.
