Top Twitch channels from July 4 to 10: ALGS showcases advancements in year 2

XQc Dominates Twitch

This week, popular content creator xQc took the top spot on Twitch. With an average of 61,582 viewers over nearly 70 hours, xQc was the platform’s standout performer. While Gaules had more total hours watched with 4.17 million, xQc had higher average viewership.

Unsurprisingly, Just Chatting was xQc’s most-watched category, accounting for 1.78 million of his 4.19 million total hours watched and 28.75% of his 68 hours of airtime. His most-played game for the week was Rust, with over 14 hours of playtime. He also streamed CS:GO, Slots, and Rocket League for four to six hours each.

IEM Cologne Tops Twitch

This week, the CS:GO channel of ESL’s IEM Cologne event led the way on Twitch. The event started on Tuesday, July 5 with a play-in and continued with the group stage over the weekend, which attracted significant viewership.

While some of the channel’s viewership during the week came from reruns, the weekend’s action peaked on Saturday, July 9, with over 1 million hours watched during a 13-hour broadcast.

The day concluded with an intense 2-1 victory by Ninjas in Pyjamas over G2 Esports, resulting in the highest viewership of the tournament so far with 146,483 viewers on the main channel.

The tournament will continue this weekend with the single-elimination playoff portion, culminating in a best-of-five grand final.

ALGS Impacts Apex Legends Viewership

This week, the Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) attracted attention and viewership away from Twitch, as the tournament had a $2 million prize pool. Esports Charts reported that the event reached a peak of 632,000 concurrent viewers across all platforms.

During the finals, the tournament’s primary English-language broadcast on Twitch drew 214,653 viewers. The final day of the championship, featuring a 6.5-hour broadcast, attracted an average of 160,833 viewers on the PlayApex Twitch page. Compared to last year’s inaugural ALGS, viewership for this event increased.
