Internet personality MrBeast sparks controversy on Twitter by criticizing music labels’ copyright claims

MrBeast Criticizes Major Music Labels for Copyright Strikes Against YouTubers

Well-known YouTuber and philanthropist MrBeast recently took to Twitter to express his frustration with major music labels. He publicly called out these labels, stating that YouTubers generate billions of impressions for artists.

Content creators have long struggled with copyright claims, as they often lead to video takedowns, demonetization, and even platform bans. YouTube’s content ID system, in particular, has prevented creators from incorporating popular songs into their videos.

In a rare Twitter rant, MrBeast expressed his frustration with major music labels for constantly issuing copyright strikes against YouTubers. He argued that content creators should be allowed to use any music they want, given the potential reach they can provide to musicians through their audiences.

MrBeast tweeted, “A major music label should stop copyright striking YouTubers every opportunity it gets and instead let us use their music and then we YouTubers all rally and get them 10s of billions of impressions on their music for not being cunts to us.”

MrBeast’s strong opinion sparked a heated discussion in the replies, with several musicians chiming in to share their thoughts. Musician Ross Gerber countered, stating that “most musicians are broke” and that as a multi-millionaire, MrBeast should be willing to pay musicians who contribute to his videos.

Another creator proposed a potential solution that could satisfy both parties. They suggested that YouTube could have a library similar to its audio library, where creators could license individual songs for specific videos, ensuring that royalties reach artists as well.

MrBeast’s tweet received countless other replies, offering suggestions for potential solutions and criticizing both artists and YouTubers. However, MrBeast chose not to engage with any of the replies, allowing the controversy he stirred up to unfold.
