Asmongold weighs in on the future of pay-to-win games
The prevalence of pay-to-win games in the gaming industry has been on the rise. Recently, Asmongold, a popular streamer on Twitch, gave his thoughts on the matter.
In a recent stream on April 12, Asmongold expressed a strong opinion about pay-to-win games, stating that they are the “future” of gaming.
According to Asmongold, “I think pay-to-win games are the future. I think that games, more games will become pay-to-win, and this is just what’s going to happen.” However, he acknowledged that games like FromSoftware’s Elden Ring will still be made, although they will be less common.
Asmongold went on to predict the future of the gaming industry, stating, “Here’s what’s gonna happen and this is why I think people aren’t ready for it yet. People are going to get looked down on and considered socially inferior for not interfacing with the pay-to-win systems. Social pressures will begin to exist in games.”
Players from various gaming communities have been vocal about the negative impact of pay-to-win systems on their favorite games. Some developers, such as those behind New World, have taken this feedback into consideration and actively avoided implementing the pay-to-win model.
