NICKMERCS asserts that Halo Infinite should have included a battle royale feature

Streamer NICKMERCS believes a battle royale mode could have saved Halo Infinite

The decline of Halo Infinite has caught the attention of popular FPS streamer NICKMERCS. In a recent tweet, NICKMERCS stated that the addition of a battle royale game mode could have been the saving grace for the struggling game.

Despite its initial popularity, Halo Infinite has been experiencing a steady decline in both player count and viewership since its launch on November 15. According to Steam Charts, the game has lost over 90% of its player base.

Halo Infinite’s esports scene also sees a decline

Halo Infinite’s esports circuit, the HCS, was launched alongside the game in a bid to revitalize the Halo competitive scene. Initial events, such as HCS Raleigh, garnered significant attention with over 267,000 concurrent viewers. However, viewership on Twitch has also dwindled, as reported by Twitch Tracker.

NICKMERCS criticizes the lack of a battle royale mode in Halo Infinite

FPS veteran NICKMERCS reflected on the shortcomings of Halo Infinite, acknowledging its potential but criticizing the absence of modern game features. NICKMERCS pointed out that 343 Industries, the game’s developer, missed an opportunity by not including a battle royale mode.

In a Twitter post, NICKMERCS wrote, “Should’ve incorporated a Battle Royale. More content = More viewership = More everything.” While rumors of a battle royale mode circulated prior to the game’s launch, the development team never confirmed its existence.

Other creators and pros share the same sentiment

NICKMERCS’ opinion is echoed by other FPS creators and professional Halo Infinite players. Sentinels’ SnakeBite replied to NICKMERCS’ tweet, expressing his belief that a battle royale mode would have diversified the game’s content and criticising 343 Industries for their negligence.

There is still hope for Halo Infinite

Despite the current decline, many players believe that there is still a chance to save Halo Infinite. The possible introduction of a battle royale mode could potentially turn things around for the game.
