How to report a username on the Twitch platform

Twitch Implements Strict Rules for Inappropriate Usernames to Prevent Harassment

Twitch has recently announced its plans to enforce stricter rules regarding inappropriate usernames in order to combat harassment on its platform.

In a recent post on its website, Twitch explained that usernames containing references to sexual acts, arousal, bodily fluids, and genitalia will be removed from the platform. Additionally, references to hard drugs will no longer be allowed, although names related to alcohol, tobacco, and marijuana are still acceptable.

While Twitch is committed to eliminating inappropriate usernames, it acknowledges that its machine learning model may not catch every instance. To address this, the platform has implemented a reporting feature that allows users to easily report any usernames they find inappropriate.

If you come across an inappropriate username on Twitch, follow these steps to bring it to the platform’s attention:

  1. Left-click on the user’s name in chat to open a pop-out showing their information.
  2. Left-click the three vertically aligned dots on the right side of the pop-out to access a drop-down menu with options to block or report the user.
  3. Select the “report” option and choose “The username is inappropriate” as the reason for reporting.
