Valkyrae responds to Addison Rae’s strikingly similar blue light protection skincare range

Addison Rae Launches New Skincare Line to Protect Against Blue Light

Social media influencer Addison Rae recently announced the launch of her new skincare line, Screen Break. The line aims to protect users from potential harm caused by blue light emitted from computer and phone screens.

This announcement by Addison Rae has drawn comparisons to RFLCT, a skincare line endorsed by popular YouTube streamer Valkyrae. Valkyrae quickly responded to the news of Addison Rae’s product.

After its release, RFLCT faced criticism due to conflicting studies that found little evidence of blue light damage from prolonged screen use. The company behind Valkyrae’s skincare line refused to release its studies, leading to further suspicions. The controversy escalated when leaked DMs between Valkyrae and Ludwig exposed growing animosity towards the project, ultimately resulting in the discontinuation of RFLCT just weeks after its launch.

Screen Break offers a similar product, claiming that its lab-tested chemicals protect the skin from artificial blue lights. The announcement video for Screen Break closely resembles Valkyrae’s original advertisement for RFLCT, featuring a blue-tinted backdrop and a text-link font.

Valkyrae immediately distanced herself from the project on Twitter. She changed her Twitter handle to “JUST VALKY” to avoid any confusion with Addison Rae. Valkyrae further expressed her suspicion, stating, “I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the same company.”

Considering the backlash Valkyrae faced for RFLCT, it’s surprising that even a globally known influencer like Addison Rae would venture into such an endeavor again. While many streamers and observers share Valkyrae’s astonishment, it remains to be seen if Screen Break will suffer the same fate as RFLCT.
