Pudge narrowly defeats Rubick in thrilling Arcana vote

Pudge Wins Community Vote for Next Dota 2 Arcana

In the annual tradition of the Dota 2 International Battle Pass, Valve initiated a tournament where players could vote for the next hero to receive an Arcana, the highest-class cosmetic item in the game. Pudge, the Butcher, emerged victorious in a close battle against Rubick the Grand Magus.

Out of more than 57.5 million votes, Pudge won by a minuscule margin of 0.008 percent, securing just 8,711 more votes than Rubick. The fact that Rubick could put up such strong competition against Pudge, who is the most popular hero in the game, is quite astonishing.

Pudge’s popularity can be attributed to his skillshot-heavy design, appealing to players who enjoy showcasing their ability to predict enemy movement with his Meat Hook ability. This explains why he emerged as the winner, as Arcana cosmetics primarily target players who engage in public matchmaking.

However, Rubick’s remarkable performance can be understood as an attempt by the community to counter the dominance of Pudge. Players rallied behind Rubick, hoping that the influx of Pudge Arcana owners wouldn’t negatively impact their games.

Now that Pudge has won the community vote, he will be the next hero to receive an Arcana. However, it is worth noting that Valve typically takes a considerable amount of time to release Arcana items, so fans will likely have to wait for at least a year before they can get their hands on Pudge’s new cosmetic.
