MOONMOON’s New Initiative: Quarterly Game Jams Supported by Twitch

Twitch Streamer MOONMOON’s Game Jam Set to Go Quarterly with Twitch’s Support

Twitch streamer MOONMOON’s popular game development competition, known as the MoonJam, may now become a regular event thanks to potential support from Twitch. In a recent stream, MOONMOON revealed that Twitch will be assisting with the prize pool for the event as part of a new contract he is negotiating. With Twitch’s backing, MOONMOON aims to increase the prize pool to $30,000 for both the audience and his personal choice winners. The base prize pool for the quarterly Game Jam is expected to be $20,000.

MoonJam: A Chance for Game Developers to Showcase Their Skills

During the MoonJam, game developers are given specific rules and a short timeframe to create a game. MOONMOON then tests and evaluates the submissions on his stream, awarding a portion of the prize pool to the best entries. Historically, MOONMOON has funded the prizes himself, but Twitch’s support will now make a significant contribution to the competition.

Supporting Aspiring Game Designers

MOONMOON hopes that the increased prize pool will provide financial assistance to the winners, helping them with student loans and other expenses related to their pursuit of a career in video game design.

A New Contract and Some Changes for MOONMOON

In addition to the support for the MoonJam, MOONMOON shared details about his new contract with Twitch. As part of the agreement, he will run three minutes of ads per hour during his streams. However, subscribers will not be affected by this change, as they are exempt from ads.

MOONMOON has not yet signed the contract or announced the date for the next MoonJam. The submissions for the 2020 event can be found here.
