Twitch Gaming decides against co-streaming Nintendo’s E3 showcase following the company’s creator advisory

Twitch Gaming Stands in Solidarity with Creators: Won’t Co-Stream Nintendo Showcase

In a move of solidarity with creators, Twitch Gaming has announced that it will not be co-streaming Nintendo’s highly anticipated showcase at E3. This comes after Nintendo warned users not to co-stream the event.

Nintendo Japan made a request for users to refrain from broadcasting video or sound from the Nintendo Direct livestream. While there was some leeway provided, Twitch Gaming has decided to respect Nintendo’s wishes and direct viewers elsewhere.

Twitch Gaming stated, “Nintendo tweeted from their official account that co-streaming today’s event is not allowed, differing from years past. While /twitchgaming has permission to air the show, we won’t be airing the event because all creators can’t co-stream.”

According to Nintendo, creators are allowed to stream themselves watching and reacting to the event, but they cannot showcase the actual presentation on their stream. However, they may use footage from the presentation after it has concluded in certain cases.

Nintendo’s showcase at E3 is scheduled to start at 11am CT today. If you want to watch the event live, you can do so on E3’s official platforms and Nintendo’s YouTube channel.

For creators, the risk of co-streaming the event may not be worth it, as there is a possibility of Twitch enforcing takedowns for users who breach Nintendo’s request.
