YouTube introduces beta testing for exclusive chat feature for subscribers

YouTube Introduces Sub-Only Chat Feature for Streamers

YouTubes streaming platform is stepping up its game with the highly anticipated sub-only chat feature.

Now, eligible channels have the option to switch their chat to sub-only mode, meaning that only subscribers can post messages. YouTube has also included additional chat optimization features for creators, including the ability to set a minimum subscription duration before users can engage in the chat.

Activating this new feature is simple and can be done from the live control room tab. Go to your live stream, click edit, then live chat. Under “who can send messages,” change it to subscribers.

In response to this update, Ryan “Fwiz” White, head of YouTube’s gaming division, hinted at more exciting features to come, including raiding. Raiding, a popular feature on Twitch, allows users to direct their viewers to another streamer’s channel as they end their stream. This not only boosts the viewership of the target streamer but also reveals the source of the raid. It’s an exciting way to support fellow creators.

Currently, the sub-only chat feature is only available to a select group of creators. However, YouTube plans to roll out this feature to all users in the near future, expanding the benefits to the entire community.
