Updates on Among Us: New Map, Console Releases, and More
Since its surge in popularity in August, Among Us has remained one of the most widely played games worldwide. Now, the team at Innersloth is ready to share some exciting updates on the game’s future.
In their latest devlog since Nov. 24, Innersloth announced that Among Us is now available on Nintendo Switch and will be coming to Xbox later this year. Additionally, a new map is in the works.
Revealed at The Game Awards last month, the Airship map promises to bring fresh variety to the game. With the ability to choose your spawn location, new tasks, and new costumes, players can look forward to an enhanced gaming experience. The launch is expected in early 2021, though an exact date has yet to be announced.
After the successful launch on Nintendo Switch on Dec. 15, Among Us quickly became one of the top sellers on the platform. The game is currently available on Switch, Steam, Xbox Gamepass PC, and the Epic Games Store. Moreover, it will soon be released on Xbox consoles.
Innersloth is dedicated to providing a smooth console experience, and they have already released bug fixes for the Switch version. They will continue to improve the game on consoles in the weeks ahead.
To enhance transparency, the developers plan to release a public roadmap outlining their future development plans. The roadmap will not include specific dates unless the team is confident in meeting them. More details about this plan will be shared soon.
Innersloth reiterated their decision not to hire more developers at this time. They believe that hasty hiring can hinder the development process and even lead to studio closure. Furthermore, Innersloth is actively working on implementing an account system that will provide moderation tools. This system will also address highly requested features such as a friends list and saved stats, among others, for future updates.
