Twitch Replaces PogChamp with TheGrefg for a Day

TheGrefg Shatters Twitch Records and Becomes the New Face of PogChamp

Last week, TheGrefg made waves on Twitch as he broke the record for concurrent viewers on the platform during his Fortnite skin unveiling. And now, he has been chosen to represent PogChamp.

Last week, Twitch removed the original PogChamp emote due to controversial statements made by Ryan “Gootecks” Gutierrez, the previous face of the emote.

Following the storming of the U.S. Capitol by President Trump supporters, Gutierrez expressed concerns about potential “civil unrest” in a tweet.

In response, Twitch introduced a new plan to feature a different content creator as the face of PogChamp each day, inspired by ideas from Sean “day9” Plott.

So far, the chosen streamers for PogChamp haven’t been the most popular on Twitch. However, considering TheGrefg’s recent success, it’s only fitting that he gets more time in the spotlight as the face of PogChamp.

On January 11, TheGrefg amassed over 2.4 million concurrent viewers, breaking his own previous record. In December, he reached a peak of around 700,000 viewers during a Fortnite in-game event featuring Galactus and the Avengers.

Currently, Twitch has updated the PogChamp emote to feature dearDEERE, CriticalBard, Reversalx7, and UmiNoKaiju.
