President Trump’s Twitch account suspended by Twitch

Twitch Suspends Trump’s Account Following Capitol Riot

Twitch has suspended the account of outgoing President Donald Trump in the wake of the U.S. Capitol insurrection, joining other social media platforms in taking action, as reported by Kotaku.

Earlier in the day, Twitter had silenced Trump’s account due to multiple statements that violated the platform’s Civic Integrity Policy.

Facebook also took similar action after some of the President’s posts from Twitter were shared on the platform.

While Trump hadn’t posted anything on Twitch in recent days, the events at the Capitol were deemed sufficient by Twitch to disable his account.

A Twitch spokesperson stated, “In light of yesterday’s shocking attack on the Capitol, we have disabled President Trump’s Twitch channel. Given the current extraordinary circumstances and the President’s incendiary rhetoric, we believe this is a necessary step to protect our community and prevent Twitch from being used to incite further violence,” according to Kotaku.

In the past month, Trump has streamed his rallies only three times. His most recent stream, from Dalton, Georgia on Jan. 4, had an average of 562 viewers over about an hour and a half.
