XQC intends to acquire rights for his outro music to avoid DMCA claims

Streamers Adapting to Copyright Crackdown on Twitch

Popular streamers on Twitch are making significant changes to their content in response to a recent crackdown on copyright law by the platform.

Well-known streamer xQc has expressed his intention to purchase the rights to a song to use as his outro music at the end of his streams.

xQc’s current outro music is “Exitlude” by The Killers, and he has openly discussed his plans to reach out to the band and request permission to use their song. He has asked his viewers to speculate on what the band might charge for the rights. Despite the cost, xQc believes that the song is integral to his stream and intends to obtain the rights regardless.

“I’ll buy it no matter what because I believe it is an essential part of the stream’s identity. I don’t want to lose that,” stated xQc.

Twitch’s Crackdown on Unauthorized Music Usage

In the past month, Twitch has taken strict action against users who play copyrighted music on their streams without obtaining proper rights. Several partnered streamers have received DMCA strikes or even bans due to the presence of unlicensed music not only in their recent streams but also in clips and older VODs on their channels. To assist streamers in using music on their streams, Twitch has launched a beta version of their music streaming service called SoundTrack.
