Manager of KongDoo Gaming shares Dota 2 recruitment advertisement on Facebook

Korean Esports Organization KongDoo Seeks Players for Dota 2 Squad

Korean esports team KongDoo is on the lookout for players to form a competitive Dota 2 team.

It’s been almost two years since South Korea had an official Dota 2 server, largely due to the overwhelming popularity of League of Legends in the region. Considering this, it’s somewhat surprising that a top-tier organization like KongDoo is looking to recruit for the game.

Earlier today, Pyeong “pYung” Gwon, the manager of esports for KongDoo and former owner of Rave, posted a recruitment ad for Dota 2 players on his Facebook account.

The ad reveals that KongDoo will support the players by providing a team house, regular salary, food, gear, and an interpreter. However, no further details about KongDoo’s venture into Dota 2 have been disclosed.

MVP is currently the only other active Korean organization with Dota 2 teams. They have two squads: MVP Hot6ix and MVP Revolution. The former consists of all-Korean players, while the latter is an all-Kyrgyz roster. Last month, American esports organization Immortals signed the former members of MVP Phoenix, who competed at The International 6. The Immortals roster is also composed entirely of Korean players.

At present, there are no organizations in South Korea hosting major Dota 2 tournaments. Local events are virtually nonexistent in the scene.
