Streamer Asmongold Finally Acquires Rare World of Warcraft Item After Years of Farming

Asmongold, a popular streamer, achieved a remarkable feat last night in World of Warcraft. After more than two years of weekly farming, he finally acquired the Scythe of the Unmaker, an exclusive and highly sought-after item.

A Triumph of Persistence

The Scythe of the Unmaker is a striking glowing red cosmic polearm dropped by Argus, the final boss of Mythic Antorus, the Burning Throne. While not the rarest item in the game, it boasts a drop rate of around one to two percent, making Asmongold’s acquisition truly impressive. This item is mainly used for transmog purposes, allowing players to customize their character’s appearance.

Asmongold has become well-known for his dedication to collecting rare items and achievements in WoW. He has an extensive collection of mounts and spends hours grinding instances, raids, and boss encounters. Prior to starting his stream, he even completes a list of tasks known as “daily quests.”

A Reward Shared with Viewers

Running Mythic Antorus is one of Asmongold’s daily quests that requires assistance from his viewers. Every week, he gathers a group of 20 viewers to help him defeat the boss and increase his chances of obtaining the Scythe of the Unmaker. According to Asmongold, he has defeated the boss over 100 times in his pursuit of this coveted item.

The challenge of obtaining the weapon is intensified by the personal loot system introduced in the Legion expansion. Unlike previous expansions where items would drop for the entire group, personal loot ensures that each player receives individual rewards. This adds to the difficulty and time-consuming nature of farming rare items.

A Moment of Jealousy and Triumph

“The first time I saw someone with this scythe… I immediately was jealous,” Asmongold confessed on his stream. Finally obtaining the Scythe of the Unmaker is a significant accomplishment for him and his viewers who have been supporting him throughout his journey.
