Asmongold’s Retail WoW Playtime Surpasses 1,500 Days

If You Want to Be the Most Popular World of Warcraft Streamer, You’ll Need a Lot of Game Time

Have you ever wondered what it takes to become the most popular World of Warcraft streamer on Twitch? Well, according to Asmongold, it takes about 1,500 days of game time.

Asmongold recently revealed his total time played in WoW, and the number is astonishing. Using an addon called “Altoholic,” he calculated that he has spent a whopping 1,501 days playing the game across all of his characters.

That’s over four years’ worth of time spent exploring the world of Azeroth, battling raid bosses, navigating dungeons, and occasionally taking breaks in capital cities like Stormwind.

A Love Affair with World of Warcraft

To put that into perspective, World of Warcraft was released 15 years and seven months ago, which equates to a total of 5,720 days. Since the game’s launch, Asmongold’s account has been logged in and actively playing on the live servers for an average of more than six hours a day.

It’s important to note that the Altoholic addon only counts characters on live retail servers, so Asmongold’s playtime of approximately 36,000 hours doesn’t include any time spent playing WoW Classic, which he streamed extensively in the fall. It also doesn’t account for any time he spent on alpha, beta, or PTR servers, where he participates in game testing as a content creator and WoW influencer.

A Streamer with Dedicated Fans

Asmongold’s streams often attract a large viewership, with tens of thousands of viewers. Despite occasionally spending time in WoW without actively playing, such as reacting to YouTube videos or interacting with his audience, his playtime is still impressive, considering the hours missing from his time spent on test realms and in the Classic version of the game.

His success as a streamer is evident in the numbers. In the past year alone, Asmongold has accumulated over 60 million hours watched on Twitch, making him one of the top five most-watched streamers on the platform, according to viewership analytics website SullyGnome. Additionally, he boasts an active subscriber count of 20,188, ranking him among the top 15 streamers on Twitch according to Twitch Tracker.

Achieving Unexpected Success in World of Warcraft

It’s safe to say that Asmongold never anticipated the level of success and profitability he would achieve from playing World of Warcraft. However, considering how he has leveraged the game to his advantage, it’s hardly surprising that he has accumulated such an impressive amount of playtime.
