Streamer RajjPatel Rebrands to Austin, Citing Insensitivity

Streamer Formerly Known as RajjPatel Changes Name to Austin

The popular streamer RajjPatel has made a significant change by switching his Twitch username and social media handles to his real first name, Austin.

Austin explained the reason behind this change in a Twitlonger post, stating that he initially created the Rajj persona in 2013 without fully understanding the “consequences and history of the choices” he made on camera. However, over time, he realized that his actions as Rajj were “personally and professionally insensitive.” While the content on his channel will remain the same, he will no longer be using the Rajj name.

One of Austin’s most successful creations is his online dating show, the “Rajjchelor.” In this show, he brings together streamers to rate, flirt, and compete for a win. However, the show has faced controversy in the past, with Kaceytron receiving an indefinite suspension from Twitch after making a joke about the “world being better off without old and poor people.”

As his show and brand continued to grow, Austin had conversations with friends and colleagues from the Indian community, which led him to the realization that he needed to change his name.

Austin expressed, “I don’t want any part of my image, name, or persona to inappropriately borrow from a culture that I don’t have the right to represent.” He intends to rebrand everything as a derivative of his first name, Austin. He also mentioned that he wished he had listened more fully and made these changes sooner.

The streamer’s new Twitch username is AustinShow, and his Twitter handle is @AustinOnTwitter.
