Asmongold Finally Obtains Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker in World of Warcraft Classic
Yesterday, the top streamer of World of Warcraft on Twitch, Asmongold, completed the quest chain required to obtain Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker, the most coveted item in World of Warcraft Classic.
The questing process for Thunderfury is not particularly challenging, but the rarity of the required items makes the sword extremely difficult to obtain. The first step of the chain involves acquiring the left and right “Bindings of the Windseeker.”
These bindings can only be obtained by raiding Molten Core, which can only be done once per week. Even then, the chance of the bindings dropping from Baron Geddon and Garr is estimated to be around 3 percent.
Asmongold managed to obtain the binding from Baron Geddon relatively early in Classic, but the binding from Garr eluded him week after week on his stream.
Despite joking about the weekly loot runs as valuable content for his stream, Asmongold’s ongoing failure to acquire the second binding made yesterday’s achievement all the more satisfying.
To incentivize viewership during his weekly attempts, Asmongold promised to gift 500 subscriptions to his chat if he managed to obtain Thunderfury.
During the stream, Asmongold encountered some technical difficulties while trying to gift the subscriptions due to the large amount of money required. After resolving some verification issues with his bank account, he was finally able to gift the subscriptions to celebrate his accomplishment.
