Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA V Achieve New Sales Milestones

Rockstar Games’ popular titles, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V), have reached impressive new sales records.

In the quarterly financial results report by Take-Two Interactive, Red Dead Redemption 2 sold over 50 million copies worldwide. It was the top-selling game on Steam in the latest quarter and ranked third for the entire year of 2022.

With this achievement, the Red Dead series has now sold more than 70 million copies overall. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick described the sales performance of Red Dead Redemption 2 as surpassing expectations.

A significant factor contributing to the game’s success was the release of Red Dead Online during the holiday season, which aimed to provide a fresh experience for players. Take-Two anticipates even higher sales in the future.

GTA V has sold over 175 million units since its release. Despite recent leaks about the upcoming GTA VI, Take-Two stated that these leaks did not impact the overall sales performance of the game. Zelnick acknowledged that the leaks were a personal and emotional matter for the team.

“We take leaks very seriously indeed, and they disappoint all of us. It’s frustrating and upsetting for the team,” Zelnick said. “However, from a business perspective, we remain unaffected. But on a personal and emotional level, our teams are affected.”
