GTA 5 is scheduled to be released on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on March 15. During these launch periods, there tends to be a surge in player counts, which may cause server issues and make it challenging for players to download the game.
However, to address this issue, most developers offer players the option to preload games before their official release. In the case of GTA 5, players who have digitally pre-ordered the game through their PS5 or Microsoft Store can now preload it.
How to Preload GTA 5 on Xbox Series X|S
To preload GTA 5 on Xbox Series X|S, follow these steps:
- Press the middle button on your Xbox controller.
- Go to the store tab.
- Find the “Games Coming Soon” tab.
- Scroll down until you see GTA Online and GTA 5 Story Mode.
- Select the version you want to install and click on “Pre-order”.
- If you have not pre-ordered the game, you will need to do so before the installation can begin.
How to Preload GTA 5 on PS5
Preloading GTA 5 on PS5 is a bit more complicated, especially for players who already own the PS4 version of the game.
If you own the PS4 version of the game, follow these steps:
- Launch your PS5.
- Find GTA 5 on your home screen.
- Select the three dots next to the “Play Game” option.
- Choose “View Product” and click on the three dots menu on the right.
- At this stage, you can select either GTA 5 or GTA Online and start the download.
If you do not own the PS4 version of GTA 5, follow these steps:
- Turn on your PS5.
- Navigate to the PlayStation Store.
- Go to the “Latest” tab and find GTA 5.
- Pre-order the game, and the download button will appear on the game’s store page.
