Rockstar Temporarily Suspends GTA Online and Red Dead Online for 2 Hours as a Tribute to George Floyd

Rockstar Games Shuts Down Access to GTA Online and Red Dead Online in Honor of George Floyd

Rockstar Games has temporarily disabled access to GTA Online and Red Dead Online as a tribute to George Floyd. The move comes as thousands around the world mourn Floyd’s death and stand against systemic racism and police brutality. Rockstar, known for popular games like Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2, took their servers offline during the memorial service.

Support for Black Lives Matter Movement

Rockstar is not the only company showing support for the Black Lives Matter movement and the protesters. Infinity Ward, Nintendo, The Pokémon Company, and others have also expressed their solidarity on social media. Some companies have postponed releases or delayed livestreams to focus on the ongoing protests.

Donations and Support

Rockstar encouraged players to join them in honoring the victims of racial injustices by supporting black-owned businesses, families of victims, and coalitions. They provided a link to organizations where donations can be made. While Rockstar hinted at their own donation, they have not disclosed the amount or specific charity.
