VALORANT players reach consensus on letting “nature take its course” against cheaters

Playing with a Cheater in VALORANT? Here’s What to Do

No one likes a cheater in VALORANT, but what should you do if you end up with one on your team? Players have been discussing this issue and they make a good point.

The Problem of Cheating in VALORANT

Cheating is unfortunately a huge problem in VALORANT, with players even targeting big streamers and using cheats in official Game Changer matches. But what is the right course of action if you suspect a teammate is cheating in a ranked game?

The original poster of a Reddit thread shared their experience where they reported a teammate for cheating but continued to play the rounds as usual. This didn’t sit well with their opponents, who may have expected the cheater’s team to surrender or throw the game to make things right.

Report, Report, Report!

Most players chimed in, saying they would also report the cheater and keep playing. After all, it is not your fault for being randomly placed on a team with a cheater, unless you are in a party with them. Your responsibility lies in reporting any suspicious activity, but punishing cheaters by surrendering or intentionally throwing the game is not your job. That is up to Riot Games to handle.

In fact, purposely losing games to teach cheaters a lesson would only hurt yourself in the long run. You would lose RR and risk being reported for throwing the game. This is not worth it for players who work hard to rank up.

Let Nature Run Its Course

Instead, it is best to “let nature run its course” because unlucky situations, like having an AFK teammate in another game, can balance out the advantage of having a cheater on your team. Sometimes it works in your favor, and other times it works against you. In the end, it should all even out—unless you are incredibly unlucky.

Ultimately, it is Riot’s responsibility to catch and punish cheaters for violating the competitive integrity of the game. So, don’t feel guilty if you happen to win a game because of a cheater on your team. It is not your fault, and the balance will be restored in one way or another.
