G2 Esports and FlyQuest Rumored to Sign Former Players of The Guard for VCT 2024
The VALORANT Champions Tour is seeing some major changes, with former players of The Guard now able to join the tournament. G2 Esports and FlyQuest are the frontrunners in the race to sign these players and secure a spot in VCT 2024. According to Lembo, a content creator for Giants Gaming, both organizations are already in discussions with the players.
This rumor aligns with a recent leak from NRG coach Chet “Chet” Singh’s stream. He accidentally revealed his messages with former The Guard player Ian “tex” Botsch, where tex mentioned offers from teams like Dignitas and FlyQuest. It appears that FlyQuest may not only be interested in tex but also in other players from The Guard. While the team aims to stay together, they may lose a few players to other organizations.

G2 Esports and FlyQuest have both been involved in Riot Games and VALORANT previously. G2 had a strong VALORANT roster before franchising, including star European player Žygimantas “nukkye” Chmieliauskas. They were among the teams rumored to join the 2023 format but ended up forming a Challengers roster instead. After releasing their VALORANT roster, they now have an opportunity to reconsider.
FlyQuest has only recently entered the VALORANT esports sphere, with their team FlyQuest RED competing in North America. While they were unable to qualify for the North America series, FlyQuest has had success in League of Legends since 2017. With their long-standing partnership with Riot Games and their history of success in League, a venture into VALORANT is a logical next step.
Both G2 Esports and FlyQuest have the potential to build top-tier VALORANT organizations. However, we’ll have to wait and see where the players ultimately end up and whether Riot approves their participation in VCT 2024.
