Riot acknowledges unintentional big 7.04 buff for Gekko in VALORANT, assures fix in upcoming patch

Gekko’s Mosh Pit Ability Receives Unintended Buff in VALORANT Patch 7.04

VALORANT players who main Gekko have been excited about a major buff to one of the LA-based agent’s abilities in Patch 7.04. However, it turns out that the power increase was unintentional and will not remain in the game for long.

Mosh Pit, an ability where Gekko throws a creature that expands on the ground before detonating, received an unintended buff in the 7.04 changes. The latest patch inadvertently increased the damage per second that the ability deals to anyone within its radius.

Originally, Mosh Pit was supposed to deal 10 points of damage per second to those within its radius. However, after Patch 7.04 launched, players noticed that the ability was dealing closer to 30 points of damage per second. With a three-second windup, Mosh Pit inflicts a total of 90 points of damage, making it an unintentionally powerful ability. Even fully healthy and armored players can be killed by the damage from Mosh Pit.

Currently, Gekko’s Mosh Pit ability has become one of the most effective tools for clearing enemy players out of hiding spots and securing post-plants. It is comparable to abilities like Killjoy’s Nanoswarm and Brimstone’s Incendiary Grenade.

However, Gekko enthusiasts will not be able to enjoy the overpowered Mosh Pit ability for long. Riot has vowed to revert the damage to the intended 10 points per second with the upcoming Patch 7.05, scheduled for release on September 6. Even after the correction, Mosh Pit will still be viable, although not at its current super-powered level.
